Job Description
• The Crane Operator 3000ST/ Big Rig Operator shall ensure that safety is paramount and that all work is performed in a safe manner, He shall lead by example in this respect at all times without compromise. In particular, he shall ensure HSE compliance (project and corporate procedures and policy’s) with an emphasis on good working practice and adherence to PPE policy. This shall also include subcontractors, client and any other third parties.
• Attend shift briefs / JSA’s prior to commencing his allocated work period/ shift as required.
• Ensure that all lifts are carried out in accordance to Industry ‘best working practices’ and Sapura3000 safety standards.
• Operate the Sapura3000 main & deck cranes in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations & design. Ensure that the applicable de-rating tables are used with regard to sea states & weather conditions at all times. Report any malfunction of the crane as soon as possible to the chief engineer. Do not override any limits switches or alarms.
• Ensures that safe work procedures for crane lifts are adhered to at all times.
• Liaise with Bridge and Shift Supervisor and / or Barge foreman when making any lift that could affect the vessel stability.
• Complete inspection of crane wires and monitor their condition as per vessel maintenance plan.
• Complete daily maintenance tasks as defined by the Chief Engineer. Ensure crane cab is maintained in a clean & tidy manner at all times.
• Liaise with First Engineer on crane maintenance and performance to ensure that repairs and preventive maintenance are carried out properly.
• Complete weekly inspections of the cranes in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations.
• Complete the relevant entries into the cranes daily log book. Ensure that all faults or notable events are entered accordingly.
• Accurately follow all orders and instructions given by his supervisor.
• Operate the auxiliary 40ton deck cranes as directed. The Crane Operator must call for am all stop when he estimates what the ongoing operation in unsafe
Desired Profile
* Five (5) years experience as an offshore crane operator up to 1000 Mt capacity· Operation of deck cranes, crane tugger winches and deck forklift.· Recognized offshore crane operator training course.· Complete the worksite familiarization program for this position.· Current valid medical and survival training as appropriate for the location.· A suitable level of operational experience in offshore construction commensurate with the operations of the Sapura 3000. · Proficient in English, with good oral and written communication skills · Excellent interpersonal skills.
